Authorities say two people are dead after a crash on Interstate 70 in central Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash happened Saturday in Callaway County when a westbound Jaguar XK8 traveled underneath a median cable barrier and into the eastbound interstate lanes. The car then went airborne, traveled over a Volkswagen Jetta and crashed head-on into a Honda Civic.

The Jaguar's driver, 64-year-old Darrell Burgess, of St. Louis, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 81-year-old Beverly J. Burgess, was taken to a hospital, where she died.

The driver of the Civic suffered serious injuries. The Jetta was only hit by debris.
