Two Sedalia teens were injured in a Pettis County wreck that occurred Monday afternoon.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 17-year-old Anton V. Zaikin was the driver of an 2010 Toyota Scion, that was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of Route V, one mile east of US 65 at 3:43 p.m., when an oncoming vehicle approached. The driver swerved to avoid a collision and overcorrected, sending the vehicle off the roadway, striking an embankment and a fence post before overturning. Both the driver and his passenger, 18-year-old Timothy Gladush, both of Sedalia, were ejected.

Both suffered serious injuries. Neither were wearing a seat belt. Zaikin was taken to University of Missouri Hospital, and Gladush was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center for treatment.

The Scion was totaled and towed from the scene by InMotion Towing.

Pettis County deputies assisted the four Troopers at the scene.
