Lawson Man Dies in ATV Accident
A Lawson man died and a Lawson juvenile was injured in an ATV accident that occurred Sunday evening in Ray County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a northbound 2003 Yamaha Kodiak ATV, driven by 53-year-old David L. Martin of Lawson, was traveling in a field at 32247 Beaver Run Lane (northeast of Crystal Lake) around 6 p.m. when the ATV began to skid. The driver tried to avoid hitting a stationary trailer, but overturned and Martin as well as his passenger, a 13-year-old male, were ejected from the ATV, which struck the trailer.
Martin was transported to Excelsior Springs Hospital by Ray County Fire and pronounced dead at 7:36 p.m., by Dr. Viethaler.
The teen was transported by private vehicle to Liberty Hospital with moderate injuries.
Ray County Deputies assisted the Troopers on scene.
