A 39-year old Versailles man was recently arrested in Moniteau County after a vehicle pursuit.

The Moniteau County Sheriff's Office says on Tuesday (April 16), deputies investigated suspicious activity at Salem Baptist Church, on Highway N near Kliever, MO. Deputies observed a red Dodge pickup parked in the lot around 1:00 a.m. and pulled in behind the Dodge to investigate. The suspect was later identified as Eric J. Riggs, of Versailles.

The Dodge then reportedly drove away at a high rate of speed and pursuit ensued.

The pursuit led into Cole County and then back into Moniteau County, where the Dodge came to a stop on Lookout Trail near California, MO.

Riggs was taken into custody. He was shown to have a revoked license and upon interview, reportedly admitted to using methamphetamine before deputies contacted him.

Riggs was also on probation for possession of a controlled substance. Bond was set at $15,000 for Resisting Arrest by Fleeing.
