Warrensburg Police Department's K9 officer Negan will receive body armor thanks to Vested Interest in K9s.

Vested Interest in K9s is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization whose mission is to provide bullet- and stab-proof vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies. The body armor is custom made in the United States and made with NIJ certified body armor.

The Humane Society of the United States is sponsoring Negan's vest, which will be embroidered with the the sentiment,  “Honoring those who served and sacrificed”. Negan is expected to get his new equipment in eight to ten weeks.

K-9 Negan works with his partner, Sergeant Adam Wade in the Proactive Crimes Division. K-9 Negan joined the Warrensburg Police Department in November of 2019 and helps locate illegal narcotics, wanted suspects and lost children. In his off time Negan enjoys spending time with his family. Long walks and jogs. Playing with his favorite toy, a rubber ball. And laying on his back and sunning himself.

According to a release from the Warrensburg Police Department on their Facebook page, "Negan is a 2 1/2 years old Belgian Malinois, certified in Patrol and Narcotics work."

Each vest has a value of $1,744-$2,283 and weighs between four and five pounds and comes with a warranty of five years.
