Area residents are invited to spend Memorial Day Weekend with our feathered friends at Knob Noster State Park, as part of a statewide campaign to celebrate 100 years of Missouri State Parks.

People will have the opportunity to learn all about birds.

A press release from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources says that every program throughout the weekend will be related to birds.

A special guest from the Missouri River Bird Observatory will do presentations and park naturalists will lead hikes. There will also be craft activities, games, a scavenger hunt, and nest-building contests.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about bird songs and simple bird identification tips. The event is planned for May 26, 27, and 28.

Knob Noster State Park is located just off Highway 50. For more information about the event, call Knob Noster State Park at 563-2463.
