Westphalia Man Killed in Callaway County Accident

An 82-year-old man from Westphalia was killed January 3 in an accident on US 54 in Callaway County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2008 Ford Escape, driven by 22-year-old Justin Ward of New Bloomfield, slowed and made an improper left turn. The Escape was then struck by a Chevrolet truck driven by 79-year-old William Schulte.

A passenger in Schulte's vehicle, 82-year-old Charles Eichholz, was pronounced dead at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City around 11:20 p.m. There were no other injuries in the accident.
