Wilma June Brauer, 71, of Cole Camp, died Monday, December 8, 2014, at her home.  She was born on December 17, 1942, on a farm in Johnson County near Valley City, a daughter of Herman T. and Mary Elizabeth (Hall) Canida.

She lived in Smithton until 1951, when they moved to a farm near Cole Camp.  She attended Ross Creek School and Cole Camp High School.  On December 20, 1960, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cole Camp, she was united in marriage to Ray Dean Brauer.  This union was blessed with the gift of three children:  Denise Diane, Patrick Thornton, and Carl Dean.

On December 17, 1961, she was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cole Camp by Rev. Marvin H. Remmers.  While living in Kansas City, she worked for Wilcox Electric.  In 1966, she moved with her family to Cole Camp, where she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.  She stayed home to raise her children and babysat other children in the home.  She and her husband owned Deluxe Café and Country Butcher Shop in Cole Camp.  She had also worked for Town and Country Shoes, Lamy's, and Interstate Studios in Sedalia and Casey's and Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Cole Camp.  She enjoyed sewing, painting, and making crafts and was an awesome cook; but her greatest love was caring for her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by:
her husband, Ray Dean Brauer of the home;
her daughter, Denise Root and her husband Frank of Cole Camp;
her sister, Mary Francis Heavner of Cole Camp,
three brothers, Loyde Canida and his wife Carol of Cole Camp, Carrol Canida and his wife Monna of Cole Camp, Carl Canida and his wife Erlina of Las Vegas;
one step-brother, Jerry Ackerman of Independence;
two sisters-in-law, Minnie Canida and Cathy Ackerman, both of Cole Camp;
one brother-in-law, Bob Kreisel of Cole Camp;
five grandchildren, Derek Hoehns, Justin Hoehns, Shane Hoehns, Joanie Root, and William Michael; and
two great-granddaughters, Emelia and Madi Root.

She was preceded in death by her father, Herman Canida, her mother, Mary Hall Canida Ackerman, her step-father, Coygn Ackerman, two sons, Patrick T. Brauer and Carl Dean Brauer one sister, Hazel Kreisel, three brothers, Floyde Canida, Lester Canida, and Wilbur Canida, and five step-brothers, Clyde Ackerman, Lyle Ackerman, Floyd Ackerman, Donald Ackerman, and Bob Ackerman.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2014, at Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp, with  Pastor Jeffrey Kuddes officiating.  Burial will be in Brauersville Lutheran Cemetery, rural Cole Camp.

A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2014, at the funeral home, with visitation to follow.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Brauersville Lutheran Cemetery in care of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp.

Pallbearers will be Derek Hoehns, Justin Hoehns, Shane Hoehns, William Michael, Mike Root, and Douglas Canida.
