Three victims air lifted after a rollover accident Friday

At 10:35pm Friday night the Missouri State Highway patrol reported a two-vehicle injury accident on Eastbound I-70 at Mile Marker 77.2 in Saline County. The accident reportedly occurred as a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta driven by 20-year-old Taylor R. Beckenbach of Blue Springs was stopped in the roadway partially blocking the right lane. A 2012 Ford Van driven by 59-year-old Kim A. Ross of Madison Illinois attempted to avoid the Volkswagen, but struck it causing both vehicles to slide on the roadway. The report states the Beckenbach vehicle ran off the roadway, struck a cement barrier, returned to the roadway where it came to rest in the 5right lane of traffic. The Ross vehicle reportedly struck the ground, overturned, and came to rest in the left lane of traffic. Beckenbach received minor injuries, while two-passengers in the vehicle identified as 44-year-old Eric S. Preston of Harrisonville, and Melissa E. Short of Blue Springs suffered serious injuries. Preston was taken by Air Ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment. Beckenbach and Short were taken to Truman Medical Center by Air Ambulance for treatment. Ross received minor injuries, and refused treatment at the scene.

Gladstone woman injured when her vehicle strikes a deer Saturday night

Around 7:15 Saturday night the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a one-vehicle accident involving a deer on Route “O” at Western Hills Road in Lafayette County. The report states the 2008 Ford driven by 34-year-old Stephanie M. Burton of Gladstone was Southbound on Route “O” when she struck a deer. The Ford received moderate damage, and Burton complained of minor injuries, but refused treatment at the scene.
