Cardinal Loans has teamed up with the First Baptist Church of Moore to collect items to help our Neighbors in Oklahoma. They will be collecting donations until May 31, then sending donations directly to Moore.
A lot of people are doing some amazing "homegrown" grassroots efforts to help the victims of the Oklahoma tornado disaster. We have been bringing you the ones we know of on the air to help with the cause.
It's the time of year we often yell out "ROAD TRIP" and pile everyone in the car for some fun...somewhere. It's designed to be a nice getaway, a stress reliever of sorts, but for some it only creates more problems. What chaps your hide when it comes to road trippin'?
If you are looking for a "different" kind of show this weekend, make plans to go to the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts Saturday night (April 11), to see Restless Heart with the Kansas City Symphony.
Every so often, I get a craving for something, usually food, that starts to absolutely drive me crazy until I get my hands on it.
The biggest culprit is the McRib, and despite my moaning and complaining, I've gotten used to the fact that they roll those babies out for a "limited time only," and I have to wolf down my two per day while I can (extra pickles, please).
Over the weekend, I overheard a woman going on and on about what she wanted for Mother's Day. Diamond earrings, a few hours at the spa and a nice dinner out. Except for one small detail: she didn't have any kids! I almost fell out of my chair when the lady she was with asked, "Your husband does all that and you guys don't even have kids?"
Apparently, they have an agreement that because she could theoretically have kids, she should get a Mother's Day present. Is it just me or is that a little...weird?
In my opinion, we can never say enough "thank you" messages or show enough support for our men and women fighting for our freedom. Chris Rutter is a friend of mine from Clinton, Mo., and I felt compelled to share his Facebook post from earlier today.
So the weekend is here and you and your friends are all going to go out and celebrate Cinco de Mayo, right? Of COURSE! It's what everyone does on Cinco de Mayo weekends. Pub crawls, ordering your favorite drink by the name "cervesa" just to be cool, cramming down the chips and salsa. Fun word to say, isn't it? "Sallllsaaaa."
But why are you celebrating it? Why, especially, are you celebrating it if you have absolutely no "South of the Border" blood in you at all? Would you celebrate Buddha's Birthday as they do in Korea each May 17? Let me guess: ONLY if there were partying and drinking involved, right?
The sports world was turned on it's collective ear yesterday, and the general news and social media today, regarding Jason Collins "coming out" as a gay man in a new Sports Illustrated issue. Make that a "black, gay man," as if that makes it any more newsworthy.
A man in the sports spotlight announces he's gay, and this is what the nation is talking about?
