Overdose Awareness Event Slated for August 31

An overdose awareness event will be held Thursday, Aug. 31 on the Pettis County Courthouse lawn, 415 South Ohio, starting at 6 p.m.

The third annual event is organized by Recovery Lighthouse, Inc., and is held in conjunction with International Overdose Awareness Day, according to Family Advocate Sherry Rapp of Warrensburg.

Speakers for the event will include Det. Mark Cherry, Pettis County Prosecutor Phillip Sawyer, Division Chief in charge of training Justin Cross, Sedalia Mayor Andrew Dawson, and Chaplain Chris.

That will be followed by a candlelight vigil and walk around 8 p.m.
