President Barack Obama Visits University of Central Missouri [PHOTOS]
President Barack Obama came to UCM in Warrensburg today (July 24) to discuss the merits of the Missouri Innovation Campus program, an agreement between Lee’s Summit R-7 School District, Metropolitan Community College and UCM that allows students to graduate with a 4-year degree, two years after college with no student debt and sets them up on a career path with valuable experience. Obama also spoke about how education can help fuel the economy and concentrating on helping students entering into college and going through it.
President Obama spoke for 30 minutes to the crowd at UCM, praising the works of the university and encouraging Congress to focus on real issues like college education and investing in higher education. Obama went on to say, “If you think of the cost of education is too high now, wait until you see the cost of ignorance.”
Governor Jay Nixon and Senator Claire McCaskill were also in attendance for the historic visit.
