S.T.I.N.G Unit arrests a 33-year-old Sedalia woman on drug related charges
Just after 3pm Wednesday afternoon a Patrol officer with the Sedalia Police Department stopped a vehicle for a hazardous moving violation. Upon contact with the driver 33-year old Heather M. Reed of Sedalia three children ages 5,8 and 10 years-old were found to be in the vehicle. A check through dispatch revealed Reed was a revoked driver. During an investigation Reed admitted she had controlled substances in the vehicle.

The Police report states Detectives with the Sedalia Police Department’s Drug Enforcement Unit arrived at the scene, and the vehicle was searched. According to the police report the search revealed a large amount of Marijuana, Methamphetamine, Drug paraphernalia, Packaging Supplies, 9mm Ammunition, and a Switch Blade Knife. The police report states the amount of Marijuana found was consistent with one who distributes the drug, and far beyond the typical amount the average Marijuana user would possess.

Also located in the vehicle was a lock box. A search warrant was obtained for the lockbox, and Detectives located a significant amount of Methamphetamine, Controlled Prescription Medication, drug Packaging Materials, Drug paraphernalia, and a 9mm Pistol. The police report states the amount of Methamphetamine recovered is consistent with one who distributes the drug, and far beyond the typical amount the average Methamphetamine user would possess. The report also states an investigation revealed that Reed was involved in Methamphetamine and Marijuana distribution, and a user of both drugs.

The traffic stop reportedly took place about 1200 feet from Smith Cotton Junior High School, and about  1600 feet from Sacred Heart School.

At the time of the police report Reed was in the Pettis County Jail on a $250,000 bond on the following charges.
