Sacred Heart won their conference opener against the Lincoln Cardinal in two sets Tuesday night at home.

The Gremlins stepped up defensively which opened up their attacks. In the first set, senior Zoe Volcko went 7 for 7 with her first kill attempts in the first set helping the gremlins gain their lead. The Gremlins won the first set 25-12.

In the second set, the Gremlins had a strong start with freshman Kylie Beykirch serving the first five points of the set leading the gremlins to a 5-0 lead. The Gremlins were leading 19-7 when the Cardinals gained the momentum, bringing the game 19-16.

After a timeout, the Gremlins were able to step up and take the momentum back, winning the set 25-16.

Kylie Beykirch finished the match with 9 assists, 5 aces, and 5 digs.

Madison McClain had 9 kills out of 18 swings, 2 blocks, 5 digs, and two aces.

Taylor Siron had 1 assist and 2 digs.

Alyssa Perez 3 digs.

Grace Goodwin had 2 kills, 6 assists, and 8 digs

Zoe Volcko was the kill leader with 15 kills out of 20 swings, giving her a kill percentage of .650. She also had 2 digs.

Sacred Heart (4-2) plays at Green Ridge Thursday night.
