Sedalia News Journal Owner Greg Melton Seriously Injured in Car Accident

At 4:35 Tuesday afternoon (October 9), the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a two-vehicle accident on US 65 Highway South of Meadowlark Drive in Pettis County. The accident reportedly happened when Sedalia News Journal owner and publisher Greg Melton struck a 2007 Peterbilt driven by 55-year-old Cecil Neely of California in the rear.

The accident report states that Melton, 55, was not wearing a seat-belt and was partially ejected from his  2002 Dodge Ram, causing serious injuries. He was taken to University Hospital by Life Flight Ambulance for treatment.  Melton remains at the hospital in serious condition.

Neely received only minor injuries in the crash and sought his own treatment.
