Pettis County Fire Fighters were called to a structure fire to the wooden-decked low water crossing on South Grand Avenue, approximately 1/2 mile north of Anderson School Road Wednesday evening. A large amount of spent fireworks were observed at the location, leading to the possibility of the fire being ignited by citizen carelessness. The Pettis County Highway Department has closed the road and placed barriers on both approaches to the bridge due to the structure damage resulting from the fire. Motorists need to plan alternate routes for detour.
