Smithton Man Injured When Two Freightliners Collide

Two Freightliners collided at US 65 and North Grand Monday morning, injuring a Smithton man.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that an eastbound 2015 Freightliner Cascada, driven by 74-year-old Steven C. Olinger of Bloomfield, Iowa, was on US 65 around 11:15 a.m., when a southbound 2015 Freightliner M2, driven by 52-year-old William J. Marquess of Smithton, failed to yield and pulled in the path of Olinger's truck.

The Cascada struck the M2 and the M2 Freightliner overturned.

Marquess suffered serious injuries and was flown to University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia for treatment.

Both trucks were totaled and towed from the scene by Don's Truck Towing.

Sedalia Police assisted the Patrol.
