Two California residents were injured in an ATV accident that occurred Saturday evening in Moniteau County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a southbound 2016 Polaris Sportsman, driven by 31-year-old Joshua W. Wangerin of California, Mo., was at 31395 Highway 87 around 8 p.m., when the ATV traveled off the south edge of the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned, ejecting both riders.

Wangerin suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Capital Regional Medical Center by MidMo Ambulance for treatment. His passenger, 27-year-old Ashley R. Hollobaugh, also of California, suffered minor injuries and refused treatment.

The Polaris had moderate damage.

Wangerin was later arrested by the Patrol at 9:35 p.m. He now faces a charge of driving while intoxicated prior offender.
