March always is the best time of year for college basketball. While there is much attention devoted to the NCAA Basketball Tournament, there is also the National Invitation Tournament and the College Basketball Invitational. There are plenty of tournaments to go around in the post season.

One of the things I would like to see is a little in-state rivalry popup between the Missouri NCAA Division 1 teams. Can you even name the teams that fall in this category? Go ahead, I'll give you a second. I have to admit, I had to look it up to make sure I got them all.

Honestly, you don't even need to be a sports fan to enjoy this one.

During a recent game between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Detroit Pistons, the Clippers own DeAndre Jordan rocked the house when he successfully landed a "monster" alley-oop over Pistons player Brandon Knight. It was a shot that caused an immense uproar inside the Staples Center, one which you might still be able to hear.

As teams complete their regular seasons with hopes of being selected to the 68-team NCAA tournament field, national player of the year candidates are polishing their resumes for consideration. Unlike players from the teams on the bubble for the NCAA tournament, fans can be sure they'll see all of the following candidates in the 2013 tourney:

I had the privilege to call the Kaysinger Conference Tournament, where I saw many of these young athletes shine. The Kaysinger Conference is always highly competitive and packed with talent, and this year was no different! Congratulations to the young men and women who made the All Conference team.

Tomorrow (Feb. 21) the Cole Camp Bluebirds will continue the quest to becoming district champions.  Cole Camp is the number one seed in the class 2 district 8 tournament and defeated Smithton in the first round on Tuesday (Feb. 19) 76-58.

High School basketball is gearing up for district and sectional play. This week, KIX 105 will be following the Cole Camp Bluebirds Boys Basketball Team.  Cole Camp is 20-3 on the season and will take on the Smithton Tigers at 4 p.m. today.

Jerry Buss, real estate magnate and longtime owner of the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers, died Monday of an undisclosed form of cancer, his spokesman Bob Steiner said. Buss, 80, was a patient at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. His health had declined rapidly in recent weeks.
