Five Bands You Shouldn’t Miss at the Missouri Big Ass Rock Festival
Something heavy is headed for Lincoln, Mo. in May, and BOB listeners who prefer the more rockin' end of the "whatever we want" we like to play need to check out this event. The Missouri Big Ass Rock Festival on May 17-19 will include 25+ bands, camping and a whole lot of partying over three days at the Walters Ranch.
Some of these bands may be a little off the beaten path for you, but at $55 for three entire days of music, they are definitely worth checking out. I've taken the liberty of featuring some of the ones you won't want to miss.
Ragtime Performers Entertain the Boys and Girls Club in Sedalia [VIDEOS]
The Scott Joplin Festival is in full swing throughout Sedalia this week. Ragtime performers Will Perkins and Frank Livolsi took time away from the crowds to visit the summer program of the Boys and Girls Club of West Central Missouri.
Celebrate Sangerfest This Weekend in Cole Camp
One thing you always hear about in Cole Camp is about the German heritage they have. My family is part German, and it seems like about a third of Cole Camp is related to us in one way or another, either by cousinry or by marriage. So when I saw this event, I thought it was something that the people in Sedalia and the surrounding areas might want a little more information on. It’s called Sangerfest, and in English that’s translated into “Singer’s Festival.” So I think you know where we’re going with this.
Sedalia’s Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival Kicks Off This Week
Sedalia is known for having a lot of music with the Pepsi Grandstand and Bud Tent at the Missouri State Fairgrounds, events like the Lions Club Blues, BBQ, and Cruise last weekend, plus the music at various venues during the year. This week one of the more unique festivals of Sedalia takes place with the Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival. For those unaware, Scott Joplin was from Sedalia and wrote numerous pieces of music while playing at the Maple Leaf and Block 400 clubs.
