Ever since Rob moved to Missouri and left his beloved Northern hockey loving region, I promised him that we would go to a Missouri Mavericks game. Last night (Feb. 26), I fulfilled my promise and I took Rob and Kevin Walker to their first every Missouri Mavericks game at the Independence Events Center.

The Parkview Pizzazz singing group for students in 2nd to 4th grade at Parkview Elementary in Sedalia performed at the Missouri Maverick's Playoff Hockey Game in Independence on Saturday (April 6). The group was invited to sing at the Kansas City Maverick's Hockey game In the fall.  Since the team made it to the playoffs, they invited the choir back to sing the National Anthem before the game. The National Hockey League recently announced that due to the strike and no progress on a deal between the players and owners, games would be cancelled until at least November 1.  I realize that hockey may not be the most supported state in Missouri, but many know I'm a huge fan of hockey. This time of year, many talk about baseball season and who is better, the St. Louis Cardinals or the Kansas City Royals.  Others may talk about the Indy 500 or Coca Cola 600,  or probably the NBA Finals. I seem to be in the simple minority on this, but I live for the Stanley Cup!  For those that don't, know it's the Championship for hockey.
