The August primary election will see a contested race on the Republican side of the ticket this year. Former City Councilwoman Pam Carter signed up to run for Pettis County Presiding Commissioner on the last day of filing, and will face David Dick in the Aug. 5 election.
Today (April 8) is Municipal Election Day, and the polls stay open until 7 p.m. There are several issues to vote on in the area including the race for Sedalia mayor, city council, school board positions and tax issues.
The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has issued a Tornado Watch for portions of western and central Missouri, including Pettis County. The watch is effective this Thursday afternoon and evening until 9 p.m.

The League of Women’s Voters in Pettis County held a candidate forum Tuesday night (March 25) in the council chambers of City Hall. The only candidates involved in the forum were those in contested races.
