At 9:12 Friday morning the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a fatal accident involving a pedestrian and a train, at Union Pacific Train Tracks Marker 222.5 and County Road Southwest 301. According to the report the accident occurred as the Engineer of the Westbound train observed a pedestrian sitting on the tracks, and was unable to stop in time to prevent striking the subject. The victim identified as 29-year-old Joseph M. Johnson of Warrensburg was pronounced dead at the scene by the Johnson County Coroner, C.L. Holdren at 10:15 Friday morning. Johnson was transported to Sweeney Phillips and Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg.
