The field of candidates who will run for Sedalia's municipal offices is now official after Tuesday's filing deadline (Jan. 21).

Candidates for Sedalia Mayor expanded to three yesterday with Former Mayor Allen Hawkins joining City Councilman Stephen Galliher and John Fritz who filed for that race earlier. There will also be two contested city council races with James Cunningham and former councilwoman Susan Daniels, facing off for the 1st Ward seat Stephen Galliher, who is seeking the mayor’s position in April now holds.

Terry Cockrell, and Donald Meier will be vying for Wiley Walter’s seat in the 3rd Ward after Walter decided not to seek reelection.  Wanda Monsees of the 2nd Ward and Tolbert (Tollie) Rowe of the 4th Ward are not facing any opposition in the election.

The 2014 municipal elections will be held on Tuesday, April 8.
