The 4th annual food drive to benefit the Food Bank of Central and Northeast Missouri is scheduled for November 19 at Walmart in Sedalia.

Darren White, with the Food Bank, says various volunteers will be set up at both entrances of Walmart collecting food and monetary donations. White said, "the food and funds will go back into the community of Pettis County."

Last year, the food drive netted about 2,000 pounds of food and nearly $800.00.

White said the food will go towards the Food Bank's partner agencies in Sedalia, which include Open Door and the Salvation Army. The monetary donations will be used for the Buddy Pack program in Pettis County.

This year, Tigerland Motors is partnering with the Food Bank to match all monetary donations on November 19, up to $900.00 to benefit the Buddy Pack program.

White indicated the goal is to raise a total of $1,800 which can fund ten local children in the Buddy Pack program. He would like to see the food donations surpass the total from last year, saying "2000 pounds of food would be a great amount. As shoppers are buying Thanksgiving supplies, if they purchase an extra can of food for donation it is greatly appreciated and goes a long way."

Mr. White added that for every dollar raised, the Food Bank can turn that into $21.00 worth of groceries to help area families. The food drive will be held from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on November 19.
