Last night (June 27), Pettis County Fire Fighters were called to a structure fire at a wooden-decked low water crossing on South Grand Avenue.  Firefighters say a large amount of spent firework debris and packaging were found at the bridge, leading them to believe that fireworks ignited the bridge.

The bridge is located about 1/2 mile north of Anderson School Road.  The Pettis County Highway Department has closed the road, and barriers have been put on both sides of the bridge due to the structure damage resulting from the fire.

Motorists should plan alternate routes around the bridge for detour.
