On Thursday, authorities in Moniteau County arrested two people on drug charges.

The Moniteau County Sheriff's Department says deputies assisted California, MO Police with a complaint at Eagle Stop in California.

Upon arrival, a deputy spoke with the occupants of the vehicle, 37-year old Jonathan I. McCarty, of California, and 20-year old Tamera J. Deroo, of Versailles.

Authorities reportedly asked for consent to search the vehicle, which was denied. A K-9 Unit was then deployed and gave a positive alert for drugs inside the vehicle. A subsequent search revealed methamphetamine, paraphernalia and pills (schedule 4 controlled substance).

McCarty and Deroo were both arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance (meth) & Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. They were taken to the Moniteau County Jail. Each had a bond of $25,000.00.
