Citizens Against Spouse Abuse (CASA) is having our 3rd annual 5k. This year we are adding a splash of color! Come together to run/walk/skip and have fun while supporting CASA in our mission to empower domestic and sexual violence survivors to regain control of their lives through education, advocacy, and coordination of community resources. Join us for CASA’s 5K COLOR RUN presented by Nucor of Sedalia and Tyson Foods!  April 1st, 2023 in the Missouri Fair Grounds parking lot in front of the Mathewson.  T-shirts and Medals will be given to each person that registers by March 16th.

WHAT IS A COLOR RUN?
The Color Fun Run is a 5k with certain points throughout the course where they will be doused with our non-toxic color powder.  We encourage goggles and face masks for any little ones.   For the older guys and gals & adults – we suggest sunglasses and a white t-shirt to catch all the bright colors.  Along the route, there will be water stations, color stations, and lots of laughs!

Here are some favorite Color Run tips. Follow these, and we promise you’ll have a blast at our event!

WHERE AND WHEN CAN I REGISTER?    RIGHT NOW!

BRING A SMALL ZIPLOCK BAG FOR YOUR CELL PHONE.
You’ll want to capture the color splashes of powder, but since you can’t throw your phone in the wash after the race, keep it in a baggie to protect it from the powder. We promise–you’ll still be able to capture some great photos.

WEAR A BANDANA AND SUNGLASSES.
At each checkpoint along the course, volunteers will be standing by to douse you in a different colored powder. If you plan on getting messy, a bandana and sunglasses will help you keep the powder out of your nose, mouth, and eyes.

BRING A TOWEL AND BABY WIPES.
The CASA staff will be at the Finish Line for your photo ops. Getting into your car after a Color Run can still be a little messy, so we suggest to bring baby wipes and old towels to throw down on the seats of your car. We will also have a LARGE blower to get some of the color off!

GET THERE EARLY.
You’ll want to get there a bit early. 8am-8:45 is check-in and the run starts at 9am. We recommend that you pick up your packet the day before the event, which will give you more time to participate.  You can pick up your runner bib and t-shirt at the Crossfit Gym on Friday March 31st between 12-2 and 5-6:30.

TAKE “BEFORE AND AFTER” PHOTOS.
Start your morning by snapping a pre-race pic in your clean clothes, and get another photo after the race, once you’re covered in color. The before-and-after comparison is one of our favorite things we get to see on our Facebook and Instagram feed!

RUN WITH YOUR FRIENDS, YOUR FAMILY, AND/OR YOUR KIDS.
The Color Run is where everyone feels comfortable getting active, no matter their age or ability level. Whether you’re young or old, you’ll feel at home!
IS THE COLOR RUN SAFE?

Safety is our main priority! Our colors we use are made with high-quality cornstarch, food dyes and baking soda. All materials are 100% FD&C and/or D&C approved.

WILL RUNNING THROUGH THE COLOR ZONES AFFECT MY VISION OR BREATHING?
Our color powder is all certified non-toxic and free of any heavy metals. Our bright colors are a combination of cornstarch, baking soda, and FD&C (food-safe) dyes. Some Color Runners opt to wear glasses or goggles for their eyes and use a bandana or dust mask for their mouths. Our Color Throwers make sure to aim low as you pass by.

WILL THE COLOR RUIN MY CLOTHES OR RUNNING SHOES?
The color mostly washes out after the event. As with anything dirty, the sooner you wash it the better. It’s best to wear items that you wouldn’t mind getting colorful. 100% cotton clothing is recommended and typical machine washing with stain remover, removes the stains. We recommend removing excess powder from clothing before washing and/or applying water.

HOW DO I KEEP THE COLOR IN MY SHIRT FROM A COLOR RUN?
While some people are concerned with making sure that the color washes out of clothing others want to show off their colors. We have detailed instructions on how to keep the color in your color fun run shirt through this link:

CAN I RUN THE RACE WITHOUT THE COLOR POWDER GETTING DOUSED ON ME? Yes! You’ll miss the color station fun but we get it! You will run the same course but run behind the color station volunteer and you will not be in the splash zone, but you may get some color just by being in the general area.
