Citizen With Concealed Weapon Stops Boonville Robbery
The Cooper County Sheriff's Office says that a citizen with a concealed firearm thwarted an armed robbery Friday in Boonville.
According to the sheriff's office, a patron noticed a suspicious suspect at an Eagle Stop store, and intervened with his concealed firearm when the suspect demanded money. The patron held the suspect until law enforcement arrived.
The suspect, 26-year-old Elijah Devonta Carter of Kansas City, was arrested and charged with first degree robbery, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and receiving stolen property. Carter was taken to the Cooper County Detention Center, where he is being held on $150,000 bond, cash or surety.
