City of Sedalia To Participate in Small Business Saturday

The City of Sedalia is encouraging area shoppers to take advantage of Small Business Saturday on Nov. 28.

City Planner and Downtown Development Specialist Raeanne Spears says when shoppers give their business to local retailers, most of the money remains in the community and reinvested by the business owners.

“Support the people who are supporting you,” Spears remarked.

American Express founded Small Business Saturday in 2010. Locally, a digital coupon will be available for businesses to use on Nov. 28. “We highly encourage these small businesses to have a special, just to ring their registers and encourage shopping,” Spears said.

“Sedalia Stellar Storefronts” is a window decorating contest between the businesses that will be voted upon by the public online via the City of Sedalia's facebook page, Spears noted.

“Be sure to visit your favorite businesses, and if there's a place that maybe you've been curious about, but never set foot inside, I think this is a great incentive to do so,” she concluded.
