The City of Sedalia is warning citizens of a phishing scam that occurred to at least one person, who contacted the City of Sedalia with a concern regarding an e-mail received notifying them of a balance due on their utility account.

The message directed the customer to click to make a payment. The message was a fake and was not from the City of Sedalia.

This type of trick is commonly called a “phishing attack” and is from a criminal trying to steal from you.

Please be cautious of any communication that claims to be from the City.
