In a decisive ruling, the court has denied the City of Sedalia’s motion for a new trial in the case of City of Sedalia v. Bill Taylor, et al. (Case No. 23JO-CC00152).

This judgment reaffirms the court’s earlier conclusion that the City failed to present a submissible case supported by substantial evidence.

The decision, issued by Judge Lett, upholds Pettis County's position and reinforces the integrity of the actions taken by County officials. Pettis County extends its sincere appreciation to the legal team, staff, and community members who have offered their support throughout this process.

Moving forward, the Pettis County Commission urges the Mayor, City Council, and City Administrator to respect this outcome and join us in prioritizing the shared interests of our community. True progress demands collaboration between the County and the City of Sedalia.

"By working together, we can better serve the citizens of Pettis County, tackle challenges, and seize opportunities to build a stronger future," a press release concluded on Monday afternoon.
