Donate Food and Paper Products to Help Local Veterans with the MVCAA [INTERVIEW]
May is National Military Appreciation Month. Although a lot of us in the area definitely appreciate our veterans and soliders serving every day, you don't always get the chance to show it. And it's one thing to say you appreciate veterans - it's another to show it. The Supportive Services for Veteran Families are having a Toiletry Drive and a Non Perishable Food Drive. Missouri’s veterans need your support in meeting everyday needs. They need: toilet paper, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, body soap, disposable razors, feminine hygiene products, shaving cream, baby wipes, and chapstick. The drop off location for these items will be the Sedalia Family Resource Center at 505 South Kentucky, Suite A. The SSVF will also have a food drive. Non perishable food like canned or boxed items, beans, spaghetti, rice, vegetables and pasta can be dropped off at the Bi-Lo Grocery Store and the Dollar General in Warrensburg. The items will be distributed at the SSVF Veteran Health Fair on June 20. I got to talk to one of the organizers of the event, Naomi Ray, Supportive Services for Veteran Families Manager with the Missouri Valley Community Action Agency about the drives and how you can help.
We're getting all these donations together to give out at the Veterans resource and health fair on Friday, June 20. The event will be held at the I-70 Community Hospital, 105 Hospital drive in Sweet Springs from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Services offered will be health care, counseling and referrals, employment, training, and housing resources. They’ll have food and refreshment, personal care items, haircuts and more available. For more information or transportation to the event, contact 660-886-7476 ext 853 or email rayn@mvcaa.net. Tell every vet you know about it, and donate what you can. Every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated.
Donatingly yours,
Behka
