Two dump trucks collided in Cooper County on Saturday morning, killing one man and sending another to the hospital.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a westbound 2012 Western Star dump truck, driven by 35-year-old Nathan S. Mann of Boonville, exited the right side of the roadway on Missouri 98, one-quarter mile west of Brady Lane in Cooper County at 10:26 a.m. The truck then returned to the roadway, slid across the center of the road and overturned into the path of an eastbound 2021 Kenworth dump truck, driven by 52-year-old Leroy K. Williams of Sedalia.

Williams attempted to avoid the Western Star truck, traveling off the right side of the roadway. The Western Star struck the Kenworth.

Mann was pronounced dead at 10:36 a.m. by Cooper County Coroner James Hurt. The body was taken to Howard Funeral Home in Boonville. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the report.

Williams suffered minor injuries, and was transported to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The Kenworth had extensive damage, while the Western Star was totaled.

Cooper County Deputies assisted the four Troopers at the scene.
