Female Inmate Dies at Pettis County Jail
A female inmate has died while in custody at the Pettis County Jail.
Pettis County Sheriff Kevin Bond confirmed that investigators from the Sheriff's Office and the Pettis County Coroner's Office are investigating a death that occurred in a booking cell of the jail after she became unresponsive just before 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Deputies performed CPR on her until Pettis County Ambulance District personnel arrived and took over, but they were unsuccessful.
Pettis County Coroner Robert “Skip” Smith identified the name of the victim as 44-year-old Modina Marie Bradshaw of Sedalia.
She had been confined to the jail facility since her arrest on Wednesday.
According to a Sedalia Police report, Bradshaw was arrested in the 1100 block of Harding on Thursday at 5 p.m. She allegedly assaulted the victims, then threatened them with a knife. Bradshaw was taken to the Pettis County Jail and charged with unlawful use of a weapon, 3rd degree domestic assault, 4th degree domestic assault and 2nd degree property damage.
An autopsy has been scheduled for this week to determine the cause of death.
