Gertrude Marie Lee, 96, of Sedalia, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

She was born November 16, 1916, in Maryville, MO, daughter of Robert and Goldie Vesta Samson Fleenor. She was raised by Grover and Goldie Fleenor. On November 5, 1934, in Shenandoah, IA, she married Kenneth Clark Lee, who preceded her in death on March 4, 1984.

Mrs. Lee was a member of Parkview Christian Church, the Rebekah Lodge, NARFE, Be Forever Young at the church, the Red Hat Society and served on the board for Open Door. She raised many animals, including dogs, Tennessee Walking Horses, miniature horses, pot bellied pigs, peacocks and chickens. She worked for 20 years in civil service.

Surviving are a daughter, Dixie Harris, of Sedalia; seven grandchildren, Phillip Slayden, Randy Slayden, Kevin Harris, Teri Whitten, Derek Whitten, Lori Smith and Kendra Lee Hicks; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Poppa, of Maryville, MO; a brother, Monty Fleenor, of Rea, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Jerol and Harlan Lee; a granddaughter, Lesley Slayden; a brother, Cody Grimes; and a sister, Ruth Dredge.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Parkview Christian Church, with the Rev. Rodney Brown officiating.  Burial will be at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery in Maryville, MO.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Show-Me Christian Youth Home.  Arrangements by Heckart Funeral Home.
