On Sunday just after 1 a.m., Pettis County Deputies responded to the 30200 block of McGee Road for a possible burglary in progress. Upon arrival, deputies observed a vehicle parked in a field entrance to the east with no lights on.

As deputies were making contact with the driver, another vehicle traveling through almost struck a deputy.

Deputy Moore and K9 Cav were called to the scene and Cav alerted to the presence of narcotics within the vehicle.

The driver, Thomas Hamline of Independence, was arrested for possession of cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, as well as three counts of possession of illegal weapons and driving while suspended.

Hamline was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of an illegal weapon, and operating a motor vehicle on a highway without a valid license.

Hamline was issued a $15,000 cash or surety bond.

Hamline was also wanted on three failure to appear warrants from other jurisdictions.
