If you have ever shared anything on social media where you speak, you are in grave danger of being ripped off. Think you're immune because you live in Missouri? Guess again as this scam has already ripped off many in the Show Me State.

Here's how this new attempt to rip you off works:

  • An artificial intelligence bot scours social media looking for your Missouri social media accounts which include videos and/or audio you've shared
  • The AI bot samples your voice and creates a mimic
  • Your voice is then translated into phrases that can bypass bank voice identification software to access your account
  • Your bank account gets drained

The Sun shared details of how easy these AI tools are to use by anyone.

It gets even more devious. Some routines can even take your voice and use it to solicit your friends and family for "help". Imagine your family getting a panicked call from you asking for funds and it really does sound like...you because it is - sort of.

Think this is something that only happens in big cities and/or in other places not named Missouri? Yahoo News is reporting this exact scam has been used many times in Missouri already.

It's become so common in Missouri that the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services offered a specific warning about it recently. They mention how your loved ones can be contacted and made to believe you're in trouble. It's happening in Missouri more often than you know so beware.
