Missouri UFO Reports Near Whiteman AFB Are Spiking

There is concern among many about the spike in reports of unidentified flying objects near Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. There are some real numbers to back up the increase of sightings, but also some explanations about what might be going on.

Whiteman AFB is home to the U.S. Air Force's B-2 Spirit stealth bomber which makes this Missouri military installation one of the most important in America. That's why it's concerning that the National UFO Reporting Center are seeing increasing numbers of unusual eyewitness reports including locations which are near the base including Knob Noster, Warrensburg, Sedalia and Johnson County. Those reports include the following:

• black triangles
• glowing spheres
• silent lights
• formations of lights
• fast-moving objects

Some of the more famous UFO sightings near Whiteman Air Force Base include a sighting on July 26, 1997. It was from a soldier on active duty at Whiteman. Here's a snippet of his eyewitness encounter as reported to the NUFORC:

"I noticed 2 dark objects hovering over the south-central side of town, about 2 miles away, at an altitude of about 1500 feet AGL. The objects were identical, each consisting of an equilateral triangle with a sphere at each corner...They appeared to be about 100 to 150 feet long. The objects were flat black in color with no visible markings, intake/exhaust ports, or windows. I could not hear any sounds from the objects"

Another famous eyewitness report near Whiteman dates back to June of 1965. Here's what the wife of an Air Force officer said she saw:

"We saw one craft outside of Whiteman AFB. in 1965. My husband was in the Air Force at the time. At first we didn't even know what we were looking at. It was oval in shape and hovered about 40 ft. above a lot of stopped cars. It was absolutely quiet. We got out to look at it. It was silver and had flashing red and green lights. We watched it about 20 minutes and went home. The next day they told him at Whiteman that one landed there, Oscar One, and not to tell anyone at all about it!"

There are 3 reasons why sightings near Whiteman Air Force Base might be increasing more than other areas:

• many people watch the skies around them,
• classified aircraft are tested there,
• pilots are constantly operating nearby

I see frequent reports from many who watch for incoming and outgoing stealth bombers that call Whiteman Air Force Base home. It's natural that in an area where the residents are used to look at the sky for interesting sights that abnormal craft would be more likely to capture attention. However, there's also an argument that UFO sightings near Whiteman are more reliable since those in that area know what conventional aircraft look like including at night. The fact that many say they're seeing unusual sightings makes their concern all the more credible to me.
