The Junior High Lady Gremlins put on its best overall team performance of the season playing with "110 percent heart" Thursday night against a strong Cole Camp Bluebirds team.

With only one point separating the two teams in the final seconds of the game, Breeley Wilson had a hopeful steal and a fast break for the basket, but time ultimately stopped the Gremlins in a 22-23 loss.

Breeley led the Grems with 14 points and nine rebounds. Emma Lane had a dominant performance under the basket with 11 rebounds and three points. Mariana Restrepo banked three points and four rebounds for the Gremlins. Brooklynn put up two points and nine rebounds and Mariah Van Leer had six rebounds.

"I'm really proud of how the girls executed the skills we've been working on to give us a shot at the end," said Coach Chad Damlo. "We had some shots that simply didn't fall for us tonight that might in the next game. I told them to just keep shooting. I'm very proud of the team effort all the way through the game."

The Gremlins are back on the road again on Monday to take on the Lincoln Cardinals. Tipoff at 5:30 p.m.
