The Lady Roadrunners defeated the Missouri Valley College Lady Vikings JV from Marshall, 72-47, Feb. 14 in the Davis Center.

SFCC (15-8) survived a cold shooting first half, making only 28 percent of their field-goal attempts. However, the Lady Roadrunners found the mark in the third quarter.

SFCC, in the lead 29-22 at halftime, outscored the Lady Vikings 25-13 in the third quarter. Freshman guard/forward Catie Kaifes scored 12 of her team-high 17 points in the third quarter. Kaifes knocked down five out of six three-point attempts and made a pair of free throws.

"Catie and Danaé (Cole) played big offensively in the third quarter," said head coach Kevin Bucher. "Those two helped build the lead to where it needed to be. I was very pleased with their efforts and the defensive pressure."

Freshman guard Maya Brewer and sophomore guard Alexis Cowan contributed 12 points each. Cole added 10 points. Freshman guard Rosa Herbert and sophomore center Kendra Boone tied for the lead in rebounds with six.

Freshman guard Amani Williams dished out a team-high seven assists. Williams, Cole and Brewer tied for the lead in steals with two apiece. Freshman center Grace Morrow led in blocks with two.
