Les Alderman, 88, of Sedalia passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Sylvia Thompson Residence Center. He was born on December 27, 1924 in Manila, Mo. a son of Elmer and Audrey (Cunningham) Alderman, who preceded him in death.

He was united in marriage to Jo Lupton, who preceded him in death in May of 1974.  He then married, Betty Fowler, who preceded him in death in May of 2002.

He worked at Third National Bank, Sedalia as a teller until 1954.  Les retired in 1987, after 33 years as the Cole Camp Postmaster.  He enjoyed all sports, especially excelled in baseball, golf, basketball and bowling.  He served his country honorably as a gunner instructor, in the United States Navy, WWII. Les was a member of The American Legion Post 305 and Our Savior Lutheran Church, Sedalia.

He is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Snow and her husband Lynn of Sedalia; two grandchildren, Cara (Patrick) Easter and their children, Colton and Mollie Jo; Cami (Brett) Fox and their children, Allison Jo and Lane; one step-daughter, Jan (Michael) Samoza of Metarie, LA.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Kenneth Alderman.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 19, 2013, at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia with Rev. Ed Broyles officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.

Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery, Manila, MO.  Full military honors will be conducted by The American Legion Post 305.

Memorial contributions are suggested to The Alzheimer’s Association or Antioch Baptist Cemetery in care of the funeral chapel.
