A Lincoln woman was killed in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Friday night in Benton County.


The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that an eastbound 2005 Buick Century, driven by 22-year-old Quintin D. Barkwell of Lincoln, was on Route C, four tenths of a mile east of Keseman around 11:50 p.m., when the driver failed to negotiate a curve, causing the vehicle to skid. The Buick traveled off the right side of of the roadway, struck a ditch and two trees, then overturned.

21-year-old Marjorie A. Dunham of Lincoln was pronounced dead at 1:36 a.m. Saturday by Benton County Medical Examiner Weston Miller at the air ambulance landing zone.

Barkwell suffered serious injuries and was flown to St. Luke's on the Plaza.

Occupant Eve A. Pritchard, 22, Kansas City, suffered serious injuries and was flown to MU Medical Center.

None were wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the report.

The Buick was totaled and towed by Tolliver's Tow.

Benton County Deputies assisted the four Troopers on scene.

Barkwell was later arrested by the Patrol at 12:26 a.m., for driving while intoxicated and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.
