First Thursday Returns to Downtown Sedalia
First Thursday is scheduled to return to downtown Sedalia July 3, with lots of activity planned after a two-month absence.
Sedalia Main Streets organizes the monthly event, which takes place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., on the first Thursday of the month, normally from March through September.
First Thursday has a new leader now in the form of Malinda Geiger, the City’s new downtown specialist and planner.
The July First Thursday event promises to bring back local vendors, artists, musicians and various food trucks for a summer evening of shopping, dining and family-friendly fun.
There will be a special appearance by the Lesley Lyon Band from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., on The Lot behind the Hayden Liberty Center, 111 W 5th.

According to Sedalia Main Streets (SMS), Clay Cumbie, a seasoned singer/songwriter who’s shared the spotlight with artists like Luke Bryan, Zac Brown Band and Justin Moore, will be joining Lyons on stage.
“Together with The Big Tree Band, they’ll deliver a high-energy, crowd-pleasing show that blends country, rock, and everything in between,” SMS said.
Four local musicians are slated to play Thursday, including Jake Reno at Happiness Handicrafts, Chris Jones at Ohio Hair Company, Brandon Stuart and Jayson Orr at Backwoods Guitar.
And the Sedalia Concert Band will perform at the Furnell Pavilion, 2nd and Ohio, at 7 p.m.
All performances are free of charge. Bring your lawn chair for these shows.
There will also be a Kid's Zone, which will include:
• Bounce Houses
• Family Races
• 4th of July Best Patriotic Outfit Contest
• Meet Your Local Heroes – First Responders
The Kid’s Zone will be open from 5 to 8 p.m.
