Just before noon Friday morning the Missouri state Highway Patrol reported a fatality accident, that occurred on Southbound US 65 Highway a tenth of a mile north of the Hickory County Line in Benton County. According to the report the accident happened as the driver of a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt 23-year-old Elizabeth Ogle of Kirksville saw a woman in the lane of traffic, and attempted to avoid her, but struck her with the left front of the vehicle, which then ran off the roadway and into some trees before coming to rest. The pedestrian 23-year-old Mercade Jones of Muskogee Oklahoma was thrown into the Northbound lane where she was struck by a 2006 GMC driven by 51-year-old James Mclaughlin of Independence Missouri. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene and was taken to the Benton County Coroner’s Office. Ogle suffered minor injuries and was taken to Citizens Memorial in Bolivar.
