A southwest Missouri woman has been bound over for trial on a charge that she tried to hire someone to kill her ex-husband.

The Joplin Globe reports Lawrence County Associate Circuit Judge Robert George on Thursday found probable cause for 27-year-old Destiney Kerr to be tried on a charge of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

The Monett woman is accused of providing an undercover Missouri State Highway Patrol investigator with photos of her ex-husband and other personal details and asked the officer to kill him.

Prosecutors say Kerr offered to pay the officer posing as a hit man $75 as a down payment and $300 each week until they reached an "agreeable amount" for the job.

Kerr's public defender was not available for comment on Saturday.
