The Pettis County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of a Pilot Grove man after being called to a report of an assault in progress Tuesday evening (June 11) in Green Ridge.

The Pettis County Sheriff's Department says deputies were called just after 6:30 to the 200 block of E. Henry Street in Green Ridge.

Upon arrival, authorities located several subjects outside the residence, including an unresponsive man, later identified as 32-year old James Andrew Gill, of Pilot Grove.

Deputies reportedly initiated CPR and deployed an AED on Gill until relieved by PCAD personnel, however, resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful.  A Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper also assisted deputies on the scene.

Investigators from the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation throughout Tuesday night and interviewed several people.

Gill's body was released to the Pettis County Coroner’s Office, with a forensic autopsy scheduled by the Boone County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death.
