Pettis County Sheriff’s Reports for September 13, 2024

Early Sunday morning, Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of East Walnut Street and North Heard Avenue on a white Dodge Dakota because it failed to signal. The driver was identified, and gave consent to search his vehicle. A broken glass smoking pipe with a white crystal reside was located. Timothy P. Potter, 57, of Sedalia, was arrested on a felony charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance*.
On the night of September 6th, Deputies attempted a warrant service in the 100 block of South Ohio in Green Ridge. The suspect was not at the residence at the time, and Deputies waited near the house. Deputies spotted a vehicle matching his vehicle’s description drive near the house. However, once the driver spotted Deputies, he did not pull in. The truck ran through a stop sign as the deputies attempted a traffic stop with emergency lights and sirens. The pursuit continued, where the driver was moving at speeds of approximately 15 miles an hour, driving all over the roadway. The pursuit lasted approximately six minutes. The interior of the vehicle was littered with empty beer cases and beer cans. The suspect seemed confused, and smelled of intoxicants. On the PBT, his BAC was measured at .165%. After that, the suspect refused to comply with the investigation any further. Derrick Brandon Rank, 39, of Green Ridge, was placed under arrest for a charge of Driving While Intoxicated. Rank was also given a felony charge of Resisting Arrest, and was booked in on his Morgan County warrants. The Morgan County warrant was issued on September 6th, on charges of felony Statutory Rape or Attempted Statutory Rape in the 1st Degree (With a person less than 14 years of age), five counts of felony Incest, two counts of Child Molestation in the 1st Degree, and two felony counts Statutory Sodomy/ Deviate Sexual Intercourse (With a Person Less than 12 Years of Age). Rank was given no bond on the Morgan County warrant.
Deputies responded to an address in the 10000 block of Highway NN for a sex offender registration compliance check**. Detectives arrested Tyler Lee Baker, 32, of Knob Noster. Baker had a Johnson County warrant that was issued in September 2024 on charges of felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and Failure to Display License Plates. Baker was transported to the Pettis County Jail.
Thursday morning, Deputies observed a person they are familiar with driving a motor vehicle. Deputies knew the driver had no operator’s status. Deputies arrested Kevin Allen Clark, 45, of Hughesville, was arrested for No Operator’s Status. Charges are being submitted to the Pettis County Prosecutor’s Office.***
Thursday night, Deputies were running stationary radar in the area of US 50 Highway just west of Carrol Road in La Monte. Deputies observed two motorcycles travelling at a high rate of speed. The Deputies’ radar showed the bikes to be traveling at 87 MPH in a 65 MPH zone. As the Deputies attempted to stop the bikes, one driver pulled over to the shoulder, and one rapidly accelerated east bound on US 50 Highway, exceeding speeds of 120 MPH. The Deputy attempted to stop the bike for about 3 miles before the driver finally slowed to a stop. Brennen Asbridge, 23, of Raytown, was arrested on charges of Speeding (26 MPH or More) and Resisting Arrest. Bond was set at $1500 cash or surety. Asbridge was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail.
Tuesday night, Deputies were patrolling in the area of US 65 just south of 3rd Street in Sedalia. A Deputy was passed by a vehicle travelling approximately 100 MPH north on US 65. Deputies pursued the vehicle until it pulled over just south of Rebar Road. Jordan C. Flip, age unknown, of Springfield, was arrested for Resisting Arrest and Careless and Imprudent Driving.
Deputies were dispatched to the 25000 block of Smasal Road in Pettis County for a report of a domestic assault in progress. A male subject was located on McCormick Road. He was arrested by the MSHP and transported to the Sedalia Police Department for processing. Charges are being filed for Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree and Property Damage in the 1st Degree. The name of the arrestee was not listed in the report.
Sunday morning, Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of East 14th Street and South Marvin Avenue on a white Ford F150 because it had a registration violation. The driver was identified, and a computer check was conducted through the PCJC, which then showed she had no operator’s status. Deputies then gained consent to search the vehicle. On the driver’s seat, Deputies located a pink coin pouch, which had a clear plastic baggie in it that contained a white crystal substance. Deputies also collected a small clear glass jar. The suspect began to scream in the back seat of the patrol vehicle. When Deputies opened the rear door of the patrol car, the suspect said the bottle was hers. She also admitted the pink bag was hers and stated “I forgot it was in there, honestly.” At the Sheriff’s Office, Deputies used a scale to weigh the amount of white crystal substance in the bag, and showed it had a weight of .4 grams****, and tested positively for fentanyl. The clear jar tested positively for methamphetamine. Elizabeth Pearl Meador, 33, of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of felony Trafficking Drugs in the 2nd Degree, NO Operator’s License (3rd Offense), and felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.

**Baker is a Tier III Sex Offender due to a conviction on charges of Statutory Rape in the 2nd Degree, Statutory Sodomy in the 2nd Degree in Lafayette County (two charges in Odessa, two charges in Lexington). The Missouri State Highway Patrol Sex Offender Registry currently lists Baker as compliant. High-Level Offenders Tier III includes individuals convicted of the most serious sex offenses that pose a significant risk to public safety. Offenders in this tier may have committed crimes such as rape, sexual assault, child molestation, or repeat offenses. Tier III offenders have the highest risk level and are subject to the most stringent registration requirements, including regular in-person verification and community notifications.
