A 27-year-old Sedalia man was injured in a deputy-involved shooting shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday morning, and was flown by air ambulance to a Columbia hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Pettis County Sheriff Kevin Bond reports that the Sheriff’s Office was responding to a call on State Route U south of Sedalia when a deputy, assisted by a trooper from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, encountered an armed man in front of a residence. The man fired multiple rounds and the deputy returned fire, striking the subject.

Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol continue to process the scene this afternoon.
