A pilot was killed in a fiery crash during the annual Reno National Championship Air Races held Saturday in Nevada.

The name of the pilot was not immediately released, who was taking part in the Jet Gold Race when the airplane descended lower and lower until the left wingtip struck the ground and caused a fireball to erupt.

The plane was obliterated.

A YouTube video shows the horrific crash.

The Reno Air Racing Association said that the accident happened on lap 3 of 6.

The FFA and NTSB are investigating the crash, which prompted the races to be suspended.
